Millersburg takes division lead with win over rival UD

Matt Snyder knocks in the game winning RBI

Elizabethville, PA—The Millersburg Indians took down the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans by a score of 1-0 at Ralph Lehman Memorial Field in Elizabethville. The Indians scored the games only run in the top of the 7th when Matt Snyder’s single drove in Christian Wingard from third base. Wingard gave the Indians a lead off runner when UDA pitcher Connor Deitrich hung a curve ball that hit Wingard in the elbow. Cole Shomper was able to lay down a sacrifice bunt to advance Wingard to second. Logan Troutman followed with a fielders choice to short stop to advance Wingard to third to set the stage for Snyder’s game winning RBI. Wingard earned the win on the mound pitching a complete game shutout giving up just 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 10 Trojan batters. Deitrich pitched well in the loss allowing 4 hits, 1 hits batter, 0 walks, and 5 strikeouts. The win was very important for the Indians in the TVAA Eastern Division race as Millersburg, UDA, and Halifax all were deadlocked in the standings prior to todays games. Millersburg now stands alone at the top as Line Mountain took down Halifax 5-4. UDA will travel to McAllisterville tomorrow to take on the East Juniata Tigers, while Millersburg will host the undefeated Susquenita Blackhawks.
